Associations between the stages of change and the pros and cons of smoking in a longitudinal study of Swiss smokers

Article Abstract:

Associations between the pros and cons of smoking and the stages of change, in a cohort of Swiss smokers, who completed both the staging algorithm and the Decisional Balance Scale, were assessed. The hypothesis that perception of cons of smoking and perception of pros lower in advanced stages of change, was confirmed. This indicates that preventive messages focusing on cons of smoking could help smokers cease.
