Why dieters fail: testing the goal conflict model of eating

Article Abstract:

The tendency towards obesity being more pronounced in some individuals than in others is highlighted. The Goal Conflict Model of Eating theory is presented as a likely explanation of why restrained eaters over-respond to external food-relevant clues.

Pleasure in the mind: restrained eating and spontaneous hedonic thoughts about food

Article Abstract:

The stimulation of pleasant thoughts about food is found to be spontaneous in the restrained than in the unrestrained people. The social food cues compel the restrained eaters to give up their diet and overeat.
