Women's bodies and feminist subversions

Article Abstract:

The influence of 'Our Bodies, Ourselves: A Book by and for Women,' is associated with the immediate need of the information that it contains, and can be used as a reference manual for specific problems. This book demonstrates the influence of the feminist subversion theory by contending that body and sexual norms are politically constructed. It also demonstrates the impact of feminism on popular and academic knowledge. The book aims at providing easy access to expertise and accentuates the diversity of bodily existence and experience. A critique of the political economics of health is given.

Women's nature as a problem: conceptions of feminism

Article Abstract:

The study of feminism has emerged as a study of the social and intellectual priorities of Western culture. Gender studies focus on the elevation of women from their position as a second, even secondary, gender, as differentiated from the dominate and defining male gender. This article delves into historical perspectives on gender definition, including the view of a women's intellect as an intellect of beauty and therefore of ease, in an effort to construct a women's nature independent of a human nature hitherto representative of a strictly men's nature.
