Writing historical biography today

Article Abstract:

A search for the concrete amidst the abstract by historians of structures has aided in the revival of the biography in contemporary historiography. This is partly a reaction against 'Annales' history. The study of the individual is complementary to the study of social structures and collective behavior. The creation of a biography of Saint Louis necessitates a scrutiny of the aspects of production of the historical memory.
