Snorkeling is looking into a vast aquarium through a simple mask. Neophyte snorkelers view coral reefs as a myriad of strange sea creatures. They deepen their appreciation of the sea life by learning to recognize, differentiate and understand the unique association of these creatures.

Fossil records suggest that coral reefs have survived for more than 500 million years. Their complex associations and unique physiological characteristics have enabled them to withstand the pressures of time. An investigation about the ancestry of the world's coral reefs is presented.

Article Abstract:

Snorkeling is ideal for children because it requires little skill and minimal equipment and offers them hours of enjoyment. The most important skill to teach children about snorkeling is feeling comfortable in the water.
