1999 gear guide

Article Abstract:

Budget, needs and availability are some of the factors to be considered when choosing a regulator. When it comes to budget, most high performing regulators are priced at a very high rate. Such can be attributed to a great deal of research and development manufacturers have undertaken to improve their regulators. When it comes to needs, a high performing regulator that can withstand the most extreme diving conditions is needed if the diver intends to dive beyond 130 feet.

Ask RSD

Article Abstract:

ScubaLab's tests on buoyancy compensators (BCs) revealed that they are not capable of shooting a diver out of the water like a missile and that those with hard packs are better than those with soft packs. The tests also suggested that BCs made specially for women are different from standard ones and that breathing air out of BCs in emergencies is unsafe and impractical. Moreover, there is no BC that can consistently float a diver face-up.
