25 years of fighting sail stretch

Article Abstract:

Sails materials have changed from a woven Dacron standard to treated Dacron cloth and then to Kevlar since the 1970s. Mylar laminates were introduced in 1976 to reduce tearing, and radial construction was another improvement. Computer-designed sails are the latest trend.
