A CENTURY OF PROHOCKEY

Article Abstract:

The National Hockey league began in 1917 in Canada and captivated American audiences. Charles Adams purchased an NHL team for Boston and hockey became popular in northeastern and central areas of the US. By the 1970s hockey had also moved to the American south. Personalities such as Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky have helped to popularize the sport.
