A comparison of methods for analyzing drop jump performance

Article Abstract:

A study has been carried out to find out which technique gives the lowest errors in analyzing drop jump performance compared with results given by the double force plate technique. Eight methods were used for analysis. Video-based methods were found to be the most promising alternative for finding accurate variables. Differences between the double force plate method and video-based methods were comparatively small, but not negligible. Techniques usually used to quantify drop jumps include flight-time and jump height methods, and measuring durations of phases of downward and upward movements of center of mass (CM) during foot contact after the drop.

Pulmonary O2 uptake during exercise: Conflating muscular and cardiovascular responses

Article Abstract:

Pulmonary VO2 kinetics during muscular exercise should be considered among the important sources of information accessible from the body surface, which provides indices of the adequacy of physiological system functioning. The parameters of the VO2 response provide accessible estimates of those in muscle, while a range of model structures capable of yielding the response should be considered in light of the most plausible physiological equivalents for the estimated parameters.
