Aggression as a potential mediator of the home advantage in professional ice hockey

Article Abstract:

The role of player aggression as a factor of home advantage and consequent game outcome in professional ice hockey was investigated. Aggressive penalties and game variables were analyzed. Results failed to correlate game location to outcome and that visiting players were more aggressive than home teams. Increased player aggression did not influence game outcome but developed a home advantage by increasing spectator involvement through exhibitions of aggression. Future studies should investigate further the relation of behavioral aspects and game location, role of official bias and other variables.

The home advantage in sport competitions: a literature review

Article Abstract:

The impact of the home field advantage has been documented as an important, if not the primary factor in sporting contests, but there is little consistency in the research that has been done on the advantage. A methodological framework to explore the plentiful descriptive material should analyze information on the behavioral states, psychological states, performance results, location and location factors. An application of this method, and potential research topics are examined.

Predicting physical activity from intention: conceptual ad methodological issues

Article Abstract:

Two issues which may help in resolving inconsistencies in the relationship between intention and physical activity are discussed. The first issue involvesdistinguishing between the concept of intention and expectation or estimation while the second deals with scale correspondence. Several arguments are presented to justify the need to address the said issues and four methods for obtaining scale correspondence are presented for use in future research.
