The experiences of 'Bicycling' magazine editors in testing new products are often pleasant. However, there are some difficult aspects such as the dangers of personal injury and angry reactions from manufacturers when their products are judged to be faulty.

Cyclist Jan Ullrich became the 8th youngest winner of the 1997 Tour de France bike race. The 23-year-old German is being hailed as a future Tour legend, with one rival predicting that Ullrich would remain the Tour's No. 1 rider through 2000.
