Body composition and nutritional assessments in soccer

Article Abstract:

A study of soccer players reveals they have a wide range of physical types but, on average, male players are characterized by body fat that is 10% of body weight and that female players are characterized by 21%. CHO intake and body supply of certain vitamins and minerals are lower than desirable. Soccer players may benefit from CHO supplements and other measures to increase muscle glycogen supply. Soccer players could benefit from nutritional counseling.
