Choosing the winners

The seven winners in Cruising World's 1995 Boat of the Year contest are presented. The categories are cruising multihull; pocket cruiser under 29 ft; midsize cruiser, 30 to 39 ft; and full size, 40 ft and longer. Prizes were also awarded for best value.

A woman describes the experience of coping with sailing a boat and getting medical help when her husband suffered a heart attack on a cruise off Bonaire. Help and encouragement from many other boats enabled her to make the 15-hour journey to get help.
