Hood River, Oregon, has become a mecca for outdoors types, principally skiers who flock here in summer to windsurf the Columbia River Gorge. Once a logging town, Hood River was virtually uninhabited by 1970. In 1980 it underwent a renaissance, thanks to sailboarding.

Article Abstract:
Oaktree Capital Management purchased Mountain High with major plans for connecting Mountain High East and West with new lifts and connecting trails. Mountain High had begun to deteriorate in the 1990s under its old ownership.
