Desire, preparation, and a race plan

Article Abstract:

Achieving victories in sailboat racing is dependent on the desire to win. Desire is measured in the amount of time and money spent in preparing for competitions. Most sailors would like to win but their is not enough to make them to do so. They do not take the time to train their crews or tune their boats.

Sailboat racing enthusiasts must learn the importance of consistency. The tactical guidelines for being consistent are keeping one's third, not going backward, waiting for the other person to commit an error and establishing a patterned, respectable midline start.

Tips are given on how sailors can prepare for the coming sailboat racing season. Some of the mistakes that sailors commit at the start of the racing season are due to improper preparation.
