Lovastatin, also known by its trade name Mevacor, has demonstrated its ability to lower cholesterol in people with good levels. It is important, however, that patients have tests of triglycerides and HDL and LDL counts before taking this medication. Heart disease risk factors, also, should be determined.

Head start against cancer: predicting future risk with normal mammograms

Article Abstract:

Measurement of fibrous and glandular tissue in women helped predict which women were at a greater risk of developing breast cancer. Mammograms of women aged 40 to 59 were analyzed over a period to compare the differences in those who developed cancer and those who did not.

Mammograms: now, not later; waiting too long could cost you your life

Article Abstract:

Univ. of Chicago researchers discovered that women in their 40s whose cancer was detected by mammograms had a 90% survival rate. This is compared to 77% who found a lump through clinical breast palpitation. Tips on mammogram procedures are provided.
