Do skinfolds accurately assess changes in body fat in obese children and adolescents?

Article Abstract:

A study aims to compare, within subjects, anthropometric and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) based methods of body composition assessment in obese young subjects and investigate the relationship between changes in the estimates of body composition with exercise training. The result indicates that traditional indices of body fat derived from anthropometric measures are poorly predictive of abdominal and total body fat derived from DEXA.

Changes in adipopnectin, leptin and fat mass after clenbuterol treatment in horses

Article Abstract:

Adipose tissue plays complex role(s) in metabolic and endocrine control and little work is done in the horse regarding adipocytokines, thus a study is conducted to determine whether therapeutic levels of chronic beta-agonist administration, exercise or both could alter their concentrations. The conclusion revealed that a chronic clenbuterol administration alters the concentrations of the adipocytokines adiponectin and leptin in horses.

Calculation of energy expenditure in women using the MET system

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the relationships between percent total body fat (% TBF) and total energy expenditure (TEE) obtained by using the standard and a proposed calculation. In individuals with TBF content typical for contemporary Western women, standard TEE is lower than proposed TEE, which increases as the TBF content of subjects' increases.
