Doulas help needy moms

Article Abstract:

Chicago Health Connection (CHC), a non-profit organization pioneered the community-based doula program offering support to teen moms and underserved mothers before, during and after delivery. CHC is planning to replicate this program nationwide and has started offering its doula-training program to agencies nationwide in 2000, has helped 20 agencies in eight states to recruit and train doulas, and is also launching two or three new sites each year.

Shoreline: Rallying up some big ocean dreams

Article Abstract:

The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary at Las Palmas, Grand Canary Island and has already started making changes for the better such as capping the length limit of boats at 60 feet to make room for more small cruisers. Participants go through extensive safety training such as learning how to use flares, prior to the start of the transatlantic rally in Canary Islands.

Club's home port is in cyberspace

The services given by the nonprofit organizations for racing and sailing education are presented. These organizations don't have any boats or sailor for own, but will provide a love of cruising without the expense of maintaining clubhouses and boats.
