Drinking guidelines for exercise: What evidence is there that athletes should drink "as much as tolerable", "to replace the weight lost during exercise" or "ad libitum"?

Article Abstract:

The new drinking guidelines of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) lack an adequate, scientifically proven evidence base and provide erroneous recommendations on five topics. The conflicts of interest between scientists, scientific bodies and the sports drink industry in conducting the research that supports these guidelines are discussed.

Antioxidant diet supplement enhances aerobic performance in armature sportsmen

Article Abstract:

The effect of antioxidant diet supplement on blood lactate concentration and on aerobic and anaerobic threshold and their adaptations to training were analyzed. Results show that the antioxidant diet supplements induced lower increases in blood lactate concentration after maximal test.

Intermittent hypoxia exposure in a hypobaric chamber and erythropoietin abuse interpretation

Article Abstract:

A study to assess the effect of intermittent hypoxia exposure on direct and indirect methods used to evaluate recombination human erythropoietin (rhEPO) misuse is conducted. Results show an increase in EPO serum concentrations not followed by an elevation of erythroid parameters.
