Effects of massage on limb and skin blood flow after quadriceps exercise

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to compare the effects of massage against a resting control condition upon femoral artery blood flow (FABF), skin blood flow (SKBF), skin and muscle temperature after dynamic quadriceps exercise. The result indicates that without an increase in arterial blood flow, any increase in SKBF is potentially diverting flow away from recovering muscle.

The impact of prolonged exercise in a cold environment upon cardiac function

Article Abstract:

The impact of cold exposure coupled with prolonged exercise upon postexercise left ventricular (LV) functions and markers of myocardial damage are examined. Prolonged exercise is associated with minimal cardiac damage in some individuals, which appears that this is a separate phenomenon to the change in diastolic filling.

Postexercise left ventricular function and cTnT in recreational marathon runners

Article Abstract:

The impact of prolonged exercise on left ventricular (LV) function and the appearance of cardiac troponin T (cTnT) in older and recreational athletes is described. No evidence of load-independent depression in LV systolic function is reported.
