Effects of phosphatidylserine on oxidative stress following intermittent running

Article Abstract:

Phosphatidylserine (PtdSer), an essential phospholipid, mainly located within the cytosolic monolayer, has important regulatory functions within mammalian cells. The effects of 750 mg of soybean-derived phosphatidylserine or a glucose polymer placebo, administered daily for 10 days, on markers of oxidative stress, perceived soreness, and muscle damage initiated by intermittent exercise immediately followed by an exhaustive run are investigated.

Effects of Phosphatidylserine on exercise capacity during cycling in active males

Article Abstract:

The effects of soybean-derived phosphatidylserine, administered daily for ten days on exercise capacity, oxygen uptake kinetic response, neuroendocrine function and feeling states during exhaustive intermittent exercise, in males is studied. The findings suggest improved exercise capacity with phosphatidylserine supplementation as it might possess ergogenic properties but further studies are needed to substantiate this.

Phosphatidylserine supplementation and recovery following downhill running

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the effects of soybean-derived phosphatidylserine (S-PtdSer) supplementation on markers of muscle damage, inflammation, and oxidative stress following prolonged downhill running. This showed that S-PtdSer supplementation before and after exercise is not effective in reducing the deleterious effects of eccentric muscle activity.
