The joys of walking along the Gulf's beaches include sighting numerous birds and finding driftwood on the dunes. The many barrier island beaches can even reveal history such as an old burial ground for white victims of fever. Patience can sometimes be rewarded with scallop and clam finds in unpolluted water.
