Evaluation of pharmacological aids on physical performance after a transmeridian flight

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates static and dynamic performance of US Air Force reserves after flying east across seven time zones, in order to test pharmacological aids against placebo in overcoming declined performance. Three groups were given time released caffeine, melatonin or the placebo and tested two days before and 10 days after the flight; results showed that time released caffeine and melatonin may compensate for jet lag, but the authors emphasizes the need for further investigations.
