Exercise-induced increases in cardiac troponins and prothrombotic markers

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the clinical relevance of increased concentration of troponin induced by strenuous exercise. Data indicate that such increases in troponin levels are normal after vigorous exercise and do not indicate any pathophysiological problem. Furthermore, results reveal that a hemostatic imbalance may not trigger acute cardiac events after vigorous exercise.

Delayed leukocytosis and cytokine response to high-force eccentric exercise

Article Abstract:

An extreme workout to generate exercise induced muscle damage with low metabolic cost and low cardiovascular stress that is used in a new way and the mechanism behind the leukocytosis after high-force exercise is described. The degree of exercise-induced muscle damage is reflected by the magnitude of the subsequent delayed leukocytosis.

Evaluations of cooling exercised muscle with MR imaging and (sup)31P MR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that post-exercise muscle cooling prevents the delayed muscle edema and reduces muscle cell damage. However, after exercise cooling increases intracellular pH and muscle soreness.
