Facing trouble head on: skull injuries are among the most serious backcountry emergencies. Make sure your response is quick and correct

Article Abstract:

There are three major types of head injuries. The first results in prolonged unconsciousness and requires emergency attention. The second results in brief periods of unconsciousness, indicates a concussion and calls for close observation. If no loss of consciousness occurs, the injury is probably not serious.
