Feed an earache: food substitutions may squelch ear infections

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that reoccurring ear infections in children may be caused by food allergies. Cow's milk, wheat, egg whites and peanut products commonly cause allergic reactions, but parents are advised to talk to a physician before eliminating foods from a child's regular diet.

Two new ways to whip ear infections: how to handle this pediatric scourge

Article Abstract:

Two medication approaches to relieving ear infections in children involve application of short-acting antibiotics, such as amoxicillin or cefaclor, the application of FluMist, a nasal flu vaccine. FluMist, currently being tested, expects FDA approval for the 1999-2000 flu season.

One serving of Waldorf salad contains 7 milligrams of flavonoids, compounds associated with reducing the risk of heart disease. Good sources of flavonoids include apples, celery and red grapes. Made with fat-free mayonnaise, a cup of Waldorf Salad contains only 2 grams of fat.
