Runners should plan every workout to accomplish one of five purposes: endurance, sharpening, speed, strength, or rest and recovery. Purposes and details of each of these phases are discussed, and specific workout schedules for each phase are presented.

Wheels of fortune: Jean Driscoll owns Boston's longest winning streak

Article Abstract:

Driscoll is a wheelchair athlete who has won the Boston Marathon six years in a row, from 1990 to 1996. The 29-year-old was born with spina bifida, which rendered her legs useless. The 1996 marathon will be her last competition.
