Fracture of the superomedial weight-bearing surface of the acetabulum in a division I field-hockey player: A case study

Article Abstract:

The case of a female Division I college filed-hockey player who developed a superomedial acetabular fracture is discussed. It is suggested that this injury can be managed and rehabilitated successfully if we obtain referrals from other sources, take advantage of advancements in imaging technology, use the appropriate imaging studies and expertise in interpreting the results, and incorporate basic knowledge of anatomy with the mechanism of injury.

Mental toughness as a determinant of beliefs, pain and adherence in sport injury rehabilitation

Article Abstract:

The relationship between mental toughness, sport injury beliefs, pain and adherence to sport injury rehabilitation program is investigated. Results reveal that despite the benefits of being mentally tough, sports medicine providers need to be aware that a high degree of mental toughness might have negative consequences upon rehabilitation behavior and subsequently recovery outcomes.

Do physical maturity and birth rate predict talent in male youth ice hockey players?

Article Abstract:

The relationships among biological maturity, physical size, relative age and success at being selected into a male Canadian provincial age-banded ice hockey team are examined. The team selectors have often selected early maturing male in ice hockey players who have birth dates early in the selection year.
