Article Abstract:

The European Championship is played once every four years, and is considered to be the most important soccer tournament after the World Cup. The 2000 Euro-championship games were played in the Netherlands and Belgium. Issues concerning the performances of the sixteen qualifying teams are presented.

The olympics take place every four years allowing top athletes from all over the world to compete in a variety of sports. Issues concerning the 36 players that make up both the men and womens U.S. National Teams are presented, with reference to U.S. opponents, and tournament schedules.

Halfway home: the United States is in a tight race for one of three CONCAFAF spots at the '98 World Cup, following a 1-1 tie in El Salvador

Article Abstract:

The US Men's national Team played to a 1-1 tie against El Salvador on Jun 29, 1997. Striker Roy Lassiter scored the first goal after 52 minutes of play, but El Salvador scored to tie the game 9 minutes later. The US is in third place among the six teams competing to play in the 1997 World Cup.
