While dawn-8am remains the best hunting period, especially for stand-hunting, other dayparts can also provide opportunities. Tips on following deer movement into daytime cover, and out in the evening, are provided.

Early season brings the genetic impulse and climate cues for deer to feed in preparation for winter. Most of the feeding requires some movement away from spent summer sources, mostly between 6 and 8 a.m.
