Muscle strength in knee varus and valgus

Article Abstract:

This article examines factors that contribute to variations in muscle strength in the knee valgus and varus. Findings indicate that varus strength in the knee is positively correlated with the valgus angle and that placing the knee in the varus position increases valgus strength.

In vivo and noninvasive three-dimensional patellar tracking induced by individual heads of quadriceps

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted in vivo and noninvasively to evaluate three-dimensional patellar tracking induced by selective activation of an individual quadriceps component. The finding of the study was that each quadriceps components moved the patella in its own way, which was different among the different quadriceps component.

In vivo and noninvasive load sharing among the vasti in patellar malalignment

Article Abstract:

The vastus medialis oblique (VMO) and vastus medialis longus (VML) of patellofemoral pain (PFP) patients contribute less to knee extension than that in controls. This approach can be used to investigate load sharing among quadriceps muscles in vivo and noninvasively in both healthy subjects and patients with patellofemoral disorder and patellar malalignment.
