Incorporating recent advances in measurement in sport and exercise psychology

Article Abstract:

The state of sports and exercise psychology is one of complex theories and models, and measurement is an important component of current research. Familiarity with the most current methods helps researchers choose from a wider range of measurement techniques. Classical test theory is a well-established psychometric method, but its results are dependent on samples and tests. Item response theory is a method that produces more dependable test scores.
