Intepreting scrapes: sometimes hot, sometimes not

Article Abstract:

Hunters should determine where white-tailed deer regularly scrape about a month before the rut begins to improve their chances at a successful hunt. Most scrapes that are reused are near bedding and feeding areas, and hunters should find several scrapes to observe to prevent the deer from discovering their presence. Other tips are given.

When odd winds blow in: the right breeze can spell trouble for deer and success for a hunter

Article Abstract:

White-tailed deer react to changes in wind patterns, as they prefer to travel into a headwind or a crosswind. Hunters can achieve good success if they hunt deer into a tailwind, as the deer cannot smell as well when the wind is behind them.
