Article Abstract:

A history of General Motors Corp. provides information about corporation organizational development (OD). General Motors has needed reorganization. The founder, William Durant, has not been interested in change. Pierre Du Pont, having purchased shares of General Motors, wishes to introduce control methods. More Du Pont men join in the effort of establishing organizational structure. Alfred Sloan has the qualities to apply Du Pont reorganization ideas to General Motors. Crisis brings resolution as Durant is forced to sell out, and Du Pont takes over.
