Knee-flexion torque and morphology of the semitendinosus after ACL reconstruction

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to clarify the relationship between deficits in knee-flexion torque and morphological changes in the semitendinosus muscle-tendon complex after harvesting the semitendinosus tendon for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The results show that deficits in knee-flexion torque at deep knee flexion are associated with the atrophy and shortening of the semitendinosus after harvesting the semitendinosus tendon for ACL.

Neuromuscular activation of triceps surae using muscle functional MRI and EMG

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to clarify the neuromuscular activation patterns among individual triceps surae (TS) muscles during a repetitive plantarflexion using muscle functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (mfMRI) and electromyography (EMG). Results suggest that mfMRI signals and integrated EMG activity correlate with workload in individual TS muscles.

Resistance training during unweighting maintains muscle size and function in human calf

Article Abstract:

Research shows that muscle size and function can be maintained by following dynamic leg press and plantar flexion resistance training during prolonged bed rest. Data indicate that this training is useful for spaceflight personnel in preventing muscle deconditioning.
