Maleeva's mind games

Article Abstract:

Twenty-year-old Bulgarian tennis star Magdalena Maleeva has climbed up to No. 9 in women's professional tennis. She and her two other sisters are tennis prodigies who were seeded in the 1993 Grand Slam events. Maleeva is confused about life in general due to the difficulties which her family experienced under Communist rule and her homeland's current political crises.

Playing a mixed-level doubles game is a matter of leveraging the experience and ability of the better player in the doubles team. This can take the form of coaching the least experienced player, poaching on the shots of the player or having the best player hit the winning shots.
