Maximal accumulated oxygen deficit in patients with chronic heart failure

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to evaluate the feasibility and repeatability of maximal accumulated oxygen deficit (MAOD) measurement in two groups of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction using a group of age-matched normals as control. Results indicate that MAOD is directly and repeatedly measurable in stable patients with mild CHF by means of single-intensity constant-power exercise test.

RPE association with lactate and heart rate during high-intensity interval cycling

Article Abstract:

The correspondence between rate perceptions of exertion (RPE), heart rate (HR) and blood lactate concentration (La) during interval cycling is studied. Interval and recovery independently shows moderate correspondence for RPE-La and RPE-HR while overall coupling of HR with RPE and dissociation between RPE-La suggest RPE during intervals of intense cycling is more sensitive to acute metabolic demand versus La.

Reliability of a measure of prediagnosis physical activity for cancer survivors

Article Abstract:

A study examines the test-retest reliability of a measure of pre-diagnosis physical activity participation administered to colorectal cancer survivors recruited from a population-based state cancer registry. Overall findings of the study indicate low levels of repeatability for this measure of historical physical activity.
