Metabolic reaction after concentric and eccentric endurance-exercise of the knee and ankle

Article Abstract:

This article compares the metabolic and physiological effects of concentric and eccentric endurance exercise tests involving the ankle and knee. Findings indicate that the eccentric exercise tests result in lower ammonia and lactate reactions, reduced fatigue, and less metabolic stress than comparable concentric exercise tests.

Postexercise oxygen consumption and substrate use after resistance exercise in women

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of a forty-five minute resistance exercise session on subsequent oxygen consumption and fat oxidation levels in physically fit young women. Findings indicate that both oxygen consumption and fat oxidation levels remained elevated during the two hours following resistance exercise.

Intensity of acute exercise does not affect serum leptin concentrations in young men

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of thirty minutes of aerobic exercise at two intensities on serum leptin concentrations in healthy men during post-exercise recovery. Results indicate that there was no correlation between exercise intensity, calorie expenditure, and levels of serum leptin.
