Mex-Tex: Alcala outclasses Armstrong in a Grande Tour DuPont

Texan Lance Armstrong lost to Mexican cyclist Raul Alcala in the last 36 miles of the Tour DuPont, so he plans to undergo physiological tests to determine his weak points. The defending champion, Greg LeMond, did not participate in the race.

Barcelona breakdown: a talented, seemingly well-prepared U.S. team medals in Olympic frustration

Article Abstract:

The US cycling team won two bronze medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics, but they were expected to win more. The events were not as exciting as expected because the races were not close and the qualifying rounds were too long.

The US Cycling Team failed to achieve its goals during the 1996 Olympic Games. Although numerous reasons were given for the team's performance, coach Chris Carmichael summed it up as poor preparation.
