Michigan golf

Article Abstract:

More than two dozen courses have opened in Michigan since 1999, and the same number are being constructed to cater for the state's golf boom. In early 2001, two of Michigan's top courses, the Black Lake Golf Club in northern Michigan, and the Shepherd's Hollow Golf Club in the Detroit suburbs, were named in Golf Magazine's "Top 10 Courses You Can Play."

Garland: the General Motors of Michigan golf

Article Abstract:

Garland has four courses, designed and built by owner Herman Otto. The courses are evaluated, and the most difficult one noted. The grounds are beautifully kept and housing ranges from six-man log cottages to luxury villas. Cost in season is $169 nightly, and $129 during offseason.

Long Michigan summer evenings mean that a full 18-hole golf round starting at 6 p.m. can usually be completed. Golf, travel, lodging, and dining highlights include The Bear Course at Grand Traverse, Bay Harbor Golf Club, and Shanty Creek Resort.
