Golfing legend John Reid took part in America's first mixed foursome on Mar 30, 1889. Golf was a male-dominated sport in the 1880s when 'the father of American golf' and a friend, faced off against his wife Lizzie and a lady named Carrie Law.

Myopia misery

An account of the US Open golf tournament of 1901 is presented. The tournament took place at Myopia Hunt Club, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and featured a playoff between Alex Smith and Willie Anderson.
