Muscle glycogen degradation during simulation of a fatiguing soccer match in elite soccer players examined noninvasively by C(sup)13-MRS

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate a high correlation between resting glycogen and its utilization by the muscle during exercise and a moderate correlation between net muscle glycogen and the time to its exhaustion in soccer players. Data also reveal some muscle damage as indicated by high concentration of creatine kinase in plasma.

Creatine enhances oxygen uptake and performance during alternating intensity exercise

Article Abstract:

Research findings show that increased capacity of muscle performance following creatine intake is due to increased aerobic phosphorylation coupled with oxygen uptake mediated by the creatine kinase system.

Postactivation potentiation in endurance-trained male athletes

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that during endurance exercise, postactivation potentiation increases in the trained muscles which also counteracts fatigue.
