Muscle strength and fatigue during isokinetic exercise in individuals with multiple sclerosis

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that reliability of muscle strength and fatigue in multiple sclerosis individuals is comparable to control subjects but the strength and fatigue resistance is lower in multiple sclerosis than controls. The muscle strenth is not dependent on fat free mass differences in multiple sclerosis subjects.

Ibuprofen and acetaminophen: effect on muscle inflammation after eccentric exercise

Article Abstract:

Results show that maximal doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen do not change in muscle inflammatory neutrophil levels after an hour of eccentric muscle contractions. However, macrophage concentrations are enhanced by 1.5- to 2.5-fold.

Effects of muscle strength training and testosterone in frail elderly males

Article Abstract:

The independent and combined effects of progressive resistance muscle strength training (PRMST) and testosterone on strength, muscle mass, and function in hypogonadal elderly male recuperative care patients are determined. Results suggest that high-intensity PRMST is as safe and well tolerated as a similarly structured low-resistance exercise regimen for very frail elderly patients, but produces greater muscle strength improvements.
