My 24-hour death sentence: what happens when you're told the life you love is about to end

Article Abstract:

A woman who experienced constant heartburn and stomach discomfort had an ultrasound test. Her doctor received word from the gastroenterologist who was told by the radiologist that she had liver cancer. When the CAT scan confirmed that she only had spots, or hemangiomas, and no cancer, she dissolved her relationship with her doctor because of the way her case was mishandled.

A harder better death

Article Abstract:

A man's mother dies at home under hospice care and he wonders why so few Americans will avail themselves of this better way of dying. But hospice use is an admission of defeat by doctors and family. Medicare may not even pay for it. Euthanasia, assisted suicide, and facing death, are discussed.

Death of a scare

Article Abstract:

There have been articles linking the heavy use of an asthma drug to an increased risk of dying from the disease. This caused great concern among asthmatics who were suddenly fearful of the 'bronchodilators' they were using. However, there is no evidence that occasional use is harmful.
