Population attributable risk: implications of physical activity dose

Article Abstract:

This article examines estimates of population attributable risk, or the relationship between a prevalent risk factor and health outcomes, associated with physical activity and disease prevention. Findings indicate that estimates of population attributable risk are often inaccurate due to variability in measurement techniques and definitions used in research on physical activity.

Physical activity among adults greater than equal to 50 yr with and without disabilities, BRFSS 2001

Article Abstract:

A cross-sectional study is conducted using Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) that describes the prevalence of inactivity and insufficient and recommended physical activity for older adults. Findings indicate that not all persons with disabilities can be active at recommended levels, but it is possible for the vast majority to do some types of physical activity, even if at insufficient levels.

Reliability and validity of the occupational physical activity questionnair

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to determine the test-retest reliability and validity of the Occupational Physical Activity Questionnaire (OPAQ) designed to assess the usual weekly duration of occupational sitting and standing, walking, and heavy labor activities. The results establish that the test-retest reliability and validity of the OPAQ are similar to other occupational physical activity questionnaires and the OPQR can be used in research and surveillance settings.
