Confidence and safety are key factors when skiing on ice or a hard, slick surface. Most modern skis are able to grip slick surfaces. Methods for skiing in icy areas are discussed.

Ski better with age

Older skiers should adopt a stance with the hips over the front of the feet. Body flexing during turns should use the hips rather than the knees.
