Quantifying delayed-onset muscle soreness: A comparison of unidimensional and multidimensional instrumentation

Article Abstract:

The delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) pain responses derived from a multidimensional instrument like the McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ) is compared with those obtained by using a unidimensional measure like a visual analogue scale. The results are useful for researchers and sports medicine professionals for deciding on which instrument is better for quantifying DOMS and also in distinguishing such pain from other musculoskeletal damage.
