Relationships between training load, injury, and fitness in sub-elite collision sport athletes

Article Abstract:

A study to develop statistical models that estimate the influence of training load on training injury and physical fitness in collision sport athletes is conducted. Findings suggest that reductions in training load during the early-competition training phase reduce the odds of injury without compromising agility performances in collision sport athletes.

Relationship between maximal oxygen uptake and oxygen uptake attained during treadmill middle-distance running

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the aerobic fitness (V[O.sub.2max]) and the oxygen uptake (V[O.sub.2]) attained during the middle-distance treadmill running is examined. The lack of attaining maximal oxygen uptake in 800-m treadmill running in middle-distance runners is affected by aerobic fitness.

Optimized versus corrected peak power during friction-braked cycle ergometry in males and females

Article Abstract:

The optimization and correction procedures are compared to determine the peak power output during friction-loaded cycle ergometry. The results have shown that the corrected peak power is independent of resistive load in males and females.
