Reliability and variability of running economy in elite distance runners

Article Abstract:

The typical error (TE) associated with equipment, testing, and biological variation of a running economy (RE) test in 11 elite male distance runners is discussed. The results indicate that the RE test is useful in detecting changes attributable to training interventions even though it is associated with a small TE.

Influence of carbohydrate, intense exercise, and rest intervals on hormonal and oxidative changes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the effects of carbohydrate supplements and rest on hormonal and oxidative changes during intense exercise. The results showed that carbohydrate supplement during intense exercise decreased oxidative stress, although short rest periods did not affect it.

Effect of carbohydrate intake on half-marathon performance of well-trained runners

Article Abstract:

Studies point to evidence that the intake of carbohydrates immediately before and during high intensity exercise is the benefit of performance. Benefits to half marathon performance in well trained runners could not be detected although there is a theoretical improvement.
