Return to activity considerations in a football player predisposed to exertional heat illness: A case study

Article Abstract:

A football player predisposed to exertional heat illness is studied to consider return to activity. It is suggested that the athletes return to activity and process of risk is complex and requires inputs from all the components of the team to allow for re-acclimatization to exercise in the heat prior to resumption particularly following a long convalescent period after more severe heat related illness.

Don't gamble: Complex considerations for return to play following exertional heat stroke

Article Abstract:

An athlete who suffers from an exertional heat stroke (EHS) is more at risk of suffering another heat stroke when returning to competition. It is suggested that the process for return to play is complex and should be done in a coordinated manner, which will benefit the health and performance of the athlete.

Recovery and return to activity following exertional heat stroke: Considerations for the Sports Medicine Staff

The scientific evidence of recovery and safe return to activity following exertional heat stroke (EHS) is described. It is suggested that recovery is individualized and the focus should be to develop a structured return-to-activity strategy following EHS.
